A physical PPA is a flexible, customizable, multi-year renewable energy contract that involves the physical delivery of renewable energy from a dedicated EMC2 Power generation plant to the end user. Customers who sign a PPA also receive Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs), which certify that the energy they have purchased comes from renewable sources. Physical PPAs can be structured in two ways: a three-way agreement between the customer, the renewable energy producer, and the retailer, called an encapsulated PPA, or an integrated supply agreement with the supplier, called a full supply PPA. In the first case, the energy produced by EMC2 X is delivered from the grid to the customer through an approved supplier or retailer, while in the second case, the PPA is integrated directly into the customer's electricity supply contract. By enabling companies to source their own renewable energy, these agreements offer several advantages, such as improved energy efficiency and reduced Scope 2 emissions, thereby driving decarbonization and the achievement of net-zero emissions goals.
